Shaathi Bangladesh Ltd. is a social enterprise committed to fighting period poverty by manufacturing affordable, durable reusable sanitary napkins. The company also focuses on menstrual health education to ensure better hygiene and dignity for girls and women across Bangladesh.
On January 27, 2026, the project reached a significant milestone at Captain School & College, Keraniganj, where the final Pad Bank of this phase was installed, followed by a one-hour MHM session for students. The session focused on the correct use of Shaathi reusable pads and proper washing, drying, and storage methods. The session ended with the distribution of pads to students.

The project will reach 6,100 girls (primarily in Classes 5-10) across the 15 schools and madrasahs. With Pad Banks installed, girls will have emergency access to sanitary products, helping reduce absenteeism and supporting their consistent school attendance.
Mahmuda Meem, Shaathi trainer, said:
“Periods are natural, but misinformation and shame make them difficult. We want to ensure students can manage menstruation safely and confidently.”
Ritu, an 8th-grade student, shared, “Before, we had to go home if we needed a pad. Now the Pad Bank means we can stay in school, even during our period.”

The Safe Haven: Pad Bank Project is an initiative by Shaathi Bangladesh Ltd., designed to create long-term, sustainable menstrual health infrastructure in educational institutions. In this latest phase, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has partnered with Shaathi to scale the project’s reach. By installing Pad Banks and conducting expert-led MHM sessions, the collaboration ensures that schoolgirls have the tools and knowledge to manage their health with dignity, directly reducing absenteeism and fostering a more inclusive learning environment.
The project is designed to break the barriers that menstruating girls face in accessing menstrual products and proper hygiene education. A preliminary needs assessment revealed that girls are often forced to miss 5-10 days of school per month due to lack of access to sanitary products and poor menstrual hygiene practices.
