Indian Sugar Mills Waiting To Ship 1.5M Tonnes After Selling 8.5M Tonnes

According to trade and government sources, India has exported approximately 8.5 million tonnes of sugar since the current season began, with exporters set to contract another 1.5 million tonnes for international sales in the following five months.

India is the world’s largest producer and user of sugar. They put export limitations on the sweetener in May for the first time in six years,. They are restricting exports to 10 million tonnes.

The government also requested that exporters get licenses or authorization for any overseas shipments made between June and October.

Traders reportedly offer $465 to $470 per tonne of Indian raw sugar free-on-board. Also, $480 to $485 per tonne of white sugar.
