Areeba Siddique: The Illustrator Turning Karachi’s Stories Into Global Icons

The Mejbani Exhibition Toronto was held on January 17th, bringing a slice of Bangladeshi culinary heritage to Toronto. The event combined heritage storytelling, art, and communal dining to explore the rich history of Mejbani, a traditional Bangladeshi food practice. Curated by CK Events by M & L with Chittagong Kitchen, Egg Eye Productions, and Artem by Saraf Saiara, the exhibition highlighted how Mejbani has been preserved and adapted by the Bangladeshi diaspora.
The evening featured a guided art exhibition, where guests explored the social and regional roots of Mejbani, from rural Bangladesh to its present-day celebration in diaspora communities. The night ended with a communal meal of beef, rice, and lentils, emphasizing participation as the heart of this tradition.
This is the first of many events designed to explore Bangladeshi traditions in Canada through food-led storytelling, visual curation, and community engagement.
