Tinds: What does a day in the life of Tahsan look like?
Tahsan: It’s a tough question. Some days feel like I’m on a roller coaster, while others feel like I’m relaxing on a beach. Today is definitely a roller coaster kind of a day. I started at 6 a.m., shooting a music video for Oraimo, which will be released on the 29th at a concert. After seven hours of shooting, I took a three-hour break to study science with my daughter for her midterm exams. Then, back to the set! We’ll probably wrap up around 1 a.m., so today is a 19-hour roller coaster ride.
Tinds: How did growing up in Dhaka shape your artistic journey?
Tahsan: Growing up in Dhaka during the 80s was incredible. It was a pre-internet era where everything revolved around music and literature. It was truly inspiring and played a huge role in shaping my creative outlook.
Tinds: What was it like teaching at BRAC and ULAB University?
Tahsan: I loved teaching—it was a fulfilling experience. I do miss it, but my schedule is too packed now to dedicate the time it deserves.

Tinds: Could you tell us about your latest release, ‘Bhule Jabo’? What was it like working with Sanjoy and Muza?
Tahsan: Working with Sanjoy and Muza was an incredible experience. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with various producers and exploring a range of genres—from alternative rock to mainstream pop. Collaborating with them brought a fresh and exciting perspective to my music. We filmed the music video in LA, near the iconic Hollywood sign, and it was such a memorable experience. This project is a bit different from my usual style, but I truly believe people will enjoy both the song and the video.
Tinds: Do you have any other ventures besides singing?
Tahsan: I don’t consider singing a venture; it’s my life. That’s it.
Tinds: How do you see the music industry in Bangladesh flourishing in the future?
Tahsan: People have been asking me this for 20 years. The landscape has changed so many times, and I truly think it’s a great time to be a musician. Digital platforms have not only made it easier to promote your music but also opened up diverse revenue streams. If you’re good at what you do, reaching your audience has never been more accessible.
Tinds: You are a famous actor as well; between singing and acting, which feels more satisfying and why?
Tahsan: Music is in my DNA. I grew up learning, writing, composing, and singing. Acting came as a result of my fame, and while I enjoyed it, it’s not something I pursue regularly now. Music has always been, and will always remain, my priority.
Tinds: Who’s your favorite Bangladeshi actor and singer?
Tahsan: There are so many talented people, but I was watching Bappa Majumdar’s video series recently, and he’s incredibly consistent and prolific. There are many great actors too, it’s hard to pick just one.
Tinds: Can you tell us about an incident or secret no one knows about?
Tahsan: A secret no one knows about? Honestly, I don’t know.
Tinds: What is your advice to up-and-coming musicians and artists?
Tahsan: Respect everyone and their unique taste in music. Art is deeply personal, and everyone’s preferences are valid. Take the time to appreciate all forms of creativity without judgment. What matters most is creating art that connects with people and brings them joy. Embracing and respecting diverse musical styles will enrich your perspective and help you grow both personally and professionally.
