When Ala Al-Samawi fled Sana’a in 2015, he wasn’t planning to build a restaurant. He arrived in New York with memories, family recipes, and the need to rebuild.
In Bay Ridge — a hub for Yemeni and Middle Eastern culture — Ala met two fellow Yemeni exiles. Together, they created Yemenat NYC, a space shaped by resilience and the flavors of home.
