Bangladesh Opens Its First Canine Cancer Centre 

In the quiet village of Birulia, Savar, a historic step has been taken in animal care. Bangladesh now has its first-ever Canine Cancer Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre— a place where sick dogs are treated not just with medicine but with dignity.

Founded by the Furry Friends Foundation, this is the first dedicated facility in the country offering free cancer treatment for dogs. It’s a milestone for pet lovers and animal advocates who’ve long faced the impossible choice between expensive, unavailable care or doing nothing at all.

The centre offers more than chemotherapy. It provides diagnostics, pain management, rehab, and emotional care for terminally ill dogs – all under one roof. Before this, dogs with cancer were mostly left untreated or given makeshift home care, even in shelters. Now, they have a place to heal.

At the inauguration, Tasneem Sinha, the foundation’s founder and a longtime animal rights activist, called the facility a “dream realized.” The team behind the project hopes to not only provide care but also educate – inviting vet students and professionals to train in canine oncology, a specialty never before available in Bangladesh.
