For most people, hospitals are places they visit only when something goes wrong. For Parisha Shamim, they were part of the world she grew up around. As the daughter of Labaid Group’s founder, she had an insider’s view of Bangladesh’s healthcare system. Through this lens, Parisha noticed a critical gap: hospitals were great at treating illness but lacked focus on preventing it before it even began.
Today, as Executive Director at Labaid Group and Managing Director of Wellness Ventures, Parisha Shamim is turning that early observation into a broader vision. Rather than looking at healthcare only through hospital walls, she began thinking about the habits and environments that shape health long before anyone ever sees a doctor.
With a background in architecture and a natural instinct for systems and design, she started exploring how everyday spaces—from hospital cafés to lifestyle destinations like Zen Café—could quietly influence healthier choices
The vision, the ventures, and the values.

While working within Labaid Group, one of Bangladesh’s most recognized healthcare institutions, Parisha Shamim gained firsthand insight into how modern healthcare systems operate.
Doctors diagnose illnesses, hospitals provide treatment, and medical technology continues to improve patient outcomes. However, she noticed that an essential conversation was often missing from the system.
Preventive wellness rarely received the same level of attention as treatment.
Daily habits, food choices, and lifestyle routines that influence long-term health were not central to the healthcare discussion. In most cases, the system intervened only after illness appeared.
For Parisha Shamim, this gap revealed a major opportunity. If healthcare systems wanted to create lasting change, they needed to extend beyond hospitals and into the everyday lives of people.

To bring her vision to life, Parisha Shamim founded Wellness Ventures, an innovative business model that integrates preventive wellness into everyday routines.
Rather than approaching wellness as a complex medical concept, she focused on something universal and relatable: food.
Through hospital-based Wellness Cafés, patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals now have access to balanced meals that emphasize nutrition and calorie awareness. These cafés encourage mindful food choices within healthcare environments where nutrition often plays an important role in recovery and long-term health.
The philosophy behind Wellness Ventures is simple yet powerful.
“Know your food. Know your calories.”
Today, Wellness Ventures operates twenty wellness cafés and three signature restaurants across Bangladesh, creating a new category of wellness-focused dining that makes healthier food choices accessible to a wider audience.
While her hospital-based cafés introduced preventive wellness to healthcare environments, Parisha also understood that health is shaped by spaces outside of medical settings.
This insight led to the development of Zen Café, one of Dhaka’s well-known café destinations.
Zen Café combines aesthetic design, balanced food options, and a relaxed environment that encourages people to slow down and connect with others. Although it operates as a lifestyle café, it reflects Parisha Shamim’s broader philosophy that wellness should be integrated into everyday social experiences.
For Parisha Shamim, preventive wellness is influenced not only by medical care but also by the environments where people gather, eat, and spend time.
By connecting healthcare thinking with lifestyle spaces, she created a wellness ecosystem that exists both inside hospitals and within everyday urban culture.

The growth of Wellness Ventures represents a larger shift in Bangladesh’s wellness landscape.
What began as a preventive wellness concept has gradually expanded into a network of cafés, restaurants, and wellness-focused spaces across the country.
Under Parisha Shamim’s leadership, Wellness Ventures now operates twenty wellness cafés and three signature restaurants nationwide, introducing healthier dining options to a growing audience.
These spaces emphasize accessible nutrition, calorie-conscious meals, and environments that encourage balanced living.
Through this approach, Parisha Shamim is gradually influencing how wellness is experienced in Bangladesh.

Building ventures across healthcare, food, and retail industries required persistence and resilience.
As a female entrepreneur entering sectors traditionally dominated by men, Parisha Shamim often faced skepticism in the early stages of her journey. However, she remained focused on building systems that could demonstrate their value through results.
Her approach has always centered on long-term vision rather than short-term validation.
Over time, Wellness Ventures expanded, and the concept of preventive wellness began gaining recognition within Bangladesh’s evolving healthcare and lifestyle industries.
Today, Parisha Shamim is increasingly recognized as a leader connecting healthcare innovation with lifestyle wellness solutions.
Looking ahead, Parisha Shamim plans to expand the reach of preventive wellness beyond Dhaka.
By mid-2026, Wellness Ventures intends to launch ten new outlets outside the capital, making its wellness philosophy accessible to communities across Bangladesh.
In addition, Parisha Shamim is preparing to introduce a lifestyle magazine focused on holistic living, designed to educate readers about nutrition, preventive health practices, and balanced lifestyles.
Her long-term vision is to make preventive wellness a natural part of everyday life in Bangladesh rather than something people only consider when illness appears.

In many ways, Parisha Shamim never left architecture behind. Instead, she applied the same design mindset to healthcare and wellness systems.
Rather than designing buildings, she began designing environments that encourage healthier lifestyles.
Through her work with Labaid Group and Wellness Ventures, Parisha Shamim is helping shape a new blueprint for healthcare in Bangladesh—one where wellness begins long before treatment ever becomes necessary.
