Where Fashion Meets Heritage: Ami Dhaka x Be Here Now in Sonargaon

Dhaka, September 12, 2025 – At the historic Boro Sardar Bari in Sonargaon, Ami Dhaka partnered with Be Here Now to deliver a runway showcase that was more than just fashion. It became a living passport of Dhaka, weaving heritage and modernity into every stitch.

Heritage Futurism on the Runway

Ami Dhaka’s latest collection embraced “Heritage Futurism” — conscious fashion rooted in Dhaka’s cultural heartbeat. Each piece reflected the city’s past, present, and imagined futures. Crafted in Silk, Muslin, Khadi, and Katan Sarees, the designs blended Karchupi, Zardosi, Kantha, Block Prints, and Benarasi weaves.

The palette of black and gold symbolized resilience and transformation. Models like Tangia Methila, Runa Khan, Jessia Islam, and Seyam Sobhan brought this vision alive on the runway, turning garments into stories stitched by hand.

Five Chapters, Five Journeys

The showcase unfolded in five themed chapters:

1. Punarjonmo (Rebirth): Inspired by Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Bidrohi, crafted in muslin and silk.
2. Nodir Dak (Call of the River): A tribute to Tagore’s Sonar Tori, featuring layers of muslin silk, khadi, and kantha.
3. Oitijjho (Heritage): Evoking Jibanananda Das’s Smriti, with textures from Dhaka’s old city.
4. Nishir Nogor (City of the Night): A neon-tinged ode to Shamsur Rahman’s sleepless Dhaka.
5. Chiroshaari (The Eternal Saree): Six yards of black and gold Katan saree, echoing timeless continuity.
   

Fashion as Experience

With Be Here Now, the event became an immersive narrative. Music, memory, and atmosphere turned the runway into an emotional journey, where every garment was an entry stamp and every stitch a signature. Together, they extended Ami Dhaka’s philosophy beyond fabric into space, sound, and story.
